Summary of May 2 and review of rules for new folks.

First, welcome to all the new players. I hope you find this to be a fun and stress-free event and we look forward to seeing you every week.

There are several postings for each week. Scroll down to see the Quota Results (more on that in a minute), the year-to-date Standings for the cumulative stableford points (more on that in a minute) and the daily results hole-by-hole and stableford points earned.

A little history. In he past we only did weekly closest to the pin winnings and on an annual basis we awarded a cash prize for the top stableford points total winner (we used to collect annual dues to pay for it). The problem with the stableford is that you have to show up to earn points so it was heavily impacted by attendance. A couple of years ago we stopped collecting annual dues and used the stableford points for designating an annual champion who's name went on our plaque. And we continued the weekly CTP. Last year we experimented with the Callaway system in order to get more week by week winners but it heavily favored the better players and the same folks won all the time. This year we are experimenting with the quota system. If you look up the quota system you will see several variations. I am using the same method used at Swansea CC because I know it and it is easy to do (for me). Hopefully it will return more money to more players.

Here is how our Quota system works.

Each player's gross score earns points, they are taken from one of the points tables. We need two tables for Chemewa because the back is only par 32. That point number is added to the player's handicap (9 hole hcp) and that represents the total point score for the round. Winners can then be ranked, except ties often mess it up.  Payout depends on the number of players. See the planning chart for payouts below. The goal is to pay out everything we collect. We had 14 players this week. $14 was collected so the payout would have been $5, $4, $2, $2 and $1. So one person received $5. However, 2 tied for second so $4+$2=$6 was split ($3 each) between them. There were numerous ties for 3rd exceeding the remaining $3 so that $3 will just go into the CTP pool for next week. Make sense?

See you next week and if there are questions, let me know
